Founded in 2009 in Chelsea, New York — a historic hub for contemporary art — BLANK SPACE has established an international reputation for its curatorial excellence, compelling visual narratives, and close collaborations with globally celebrated artists.
The Art of Curation marks a defining moment for the gallery, placing the curatorial voice of founder and director Nana Lee at the center of the exhibition. This annual special group show brings together artists whose work reflects the gallery’s ongoing commitment to thoughtful dialogue, innovation, and cross-disciplinary exploration.

THE CURATOR'S EYE
The Art of Curation invites viewers into a refined dialogue between space and form, marking a bold new chapter in the gallery’s evolving identity.
With an interdisciplinary background in fine art, fashion design, design management, and brand strategy, Nana Lee brings a distinctive curatorial perspective that bridges disciplines and cultures. Her practice seamlessly merges art, design, fashion, and spatial storytelling to craft immersive experiences that resonate emotionally and intellectually across diverse environments.
The exhibition features works by celebrated artists including Nemo Jantzen, Boree Hur, Miguel Vallinas, Jose Margulis, Kyuhak Lee, Byungjin Kim, Yuki Matsueda, Hyunsook Jeong, Hamilton Aguiar, Heekyung Kim, and E.J. Kim. This thoughtfully curated selection reflects BLANK SPACE’s continued commitment to connecting global artistic vision with local cultural resonance.

KYUHAK LEE
Kyuhak Lee constructs his assemblages from polystyrene or Styrofoam strips, meticulously wrapped in magazine pages and newspapers, then layered with hanji—traditional handmade Korean paper. This distinctive process not only transforms everyday materials into textured, dimensional surfaces but also serves as a powerful social commentary on consumer culture and the shifting values of the millennial era.
