Overview
Swirling, ethereal abstract landscapes: Cristina Gamon's mixed media technique, pouring acrylic paint and raw pigment over laser cut plexiglass, affixed to traditional wooden stretcher bars. Awarded the BMW National Painting First Prize in 2011 by Queen Sofía, Gamon's residencies span from Manila to the Norwegian Arctic territory.

Cristina Gamon is a Spanish artist known for her swirling, ethereal abstract landscapes. Her mixed media process involves pouring various viscosities of acrylic paint while incorporating raw pigment over sheets of laser cut plexiglass, which are then affixed to traditional wooden stretcher bars. Gamón received her Masters Degree in Fine Arts from the Faculty of San Carlos, Valencia, and in 2011, she was awarded the Gold Medal for the BMW National Painting First Prize by H. M. Queen Sofía, becoming the youngest artist to receive this award.

 

Currently based in Madrid, Gamón has completed residencies in Manila, the Norwegian Arctic territory, and the College d’Espagne in Paris. Her recent prizes include the Aid for Visual Art Creation from Community of Madrid, the Valdepeñas Acquisition Prize for Plastic Arts, and the Reina Sofía Prize for Painting and Sculpture. Gamón's unique technique and stunning compositions have garnered her international acclaim and recognition in the art world.

Biography
Cristina Gamon is a Spanish artist known for her swirling, ethereal abstract landscapes created through a mixed media process using acrylic paint and plexiglass. Gamon currently lives and works in Madrid and has completed residencies in various locations around the world.

Cristina Gamon creates her swirling, ethereal abstract landscapes Gamón uses a mixed media process which involves pouring various viscosities of acrylic paint while incorporating raw pigment over sheets of laser cut plexiglass. These sheets are then affixed to traditional wooden stretcher bars which can be seen through the artworks surface and provide additional structural support to the painted plexiglass sheets.

 

Cristina Gamón received her Masters Degree in Fine Arts from the Faculty of San Carlos, Valencia. In 2011 she was awarded at the Gold Medal for the BMW National Painting First Prize by H. M. Queen Sofía and remains the youngest artist to receive this award.
