  • NATURE ON TRANSVERSE WAVES

  • BLANK SPACE is pleased to present Nature on Transverse Waves, a trio exhibition centered around the portrayal of our environments through abstract and inventive lenses. This exhibition will feature gallery artists Boree Hur, Chigyu Kwon, and Cristina Gamón. The show will be live in our viewing room from February 25th through March 31st.

    Boree Hur spent an extended time painting the flora surrounding her stay on Korea's Jeju island. Now, spending time between Jeju and Seoul, she continues to create explosive florals in homage to plantlife allowed to grow wild. Fragility, erraticness, and a radical commitment to beauty are the shared traits between flowers and humans that Hur aims to express.

    Full Moon (Green)

    Chigyu Kwon is a steel sculptor marrying nature and cityscapes in a bond forged with steel. "Bio-resilience" is the series (and sensibility) Kwon represents as a mission to heal city lifelessness. Each work incorporates organic forms and stainless steel, creating industrial structures which restore energy to the people around them, rather than reinforcing municipal urbanity.

    Mirror-mirror C

    Mixed media artist Cristina Gamón creates environments from laser cut mylar and acrylic poured with varying liquid densities. They are simultaneously inspired by microorganisms like amoeba as well as extra-terrestrial alien environments. Her hyper-technical process allows her to compose each work with elements as natural as they are out of this world.
