Press Release

BLANK SPACE is delighted to present “Neoclassic,” an exhibition of new paintings by Antoinette Wysocki.

Wysocki’s creative process is entirely organic in nature. Wysocki embraces the elements of gestural abstraction and incorporates both chance and control within multiple layers of differing narratives. Her intricate feminine sensibility combined with bold energetic gestures creates a compelling aesthetic that captures the visceral energy of time and space.

Employing a variety of media including acrylic, ink, charcoal, pencil, gauche and watercolor, Wysocki encourages dynamic spontaneous interchange between various materials. Seemingly uncanny symbols and texts such as a crown or beehive encapsulate the artist’s fleeting moments and thoughts, which actively invite viewers to a conversation.

In Step and Repeat, physical action and emotional expression achieve balance. Her composition is defined by sweeping lines and succulent colors, and the complex and subtle structural interlace displays a rhythmic unity.

This marks Antoinette Wysocki’s second exhibition with BLANK SPACE Gallery. Antoinette Wysocki was born in Washington D.C in 1975 and received her BFA from San Francisco Art Institute. Her works have been exhibited and collected internationally in New York, London, Hong Kong, Dubai, and San Francisco. In 2007, she was nominated as Top Emerging Artist by GLAAD in New York City. Antoinette currently resides in New York.
