Biography

Suzy Taekyung Kim explores the relationship between alternating layers of shapes and colors within a frame, and themes of how each individual dream blossoms out to a collective voice. Weaving together a wide range of medium such as glass mirrors, mica, colored silver and gold, her assemblages evoke elements of foliage and explosion filled with intense positive energy.

Suzy's lyrical work extends to her passion for public arts. Her first public commission was installed at one of the Gifted and Talented schools in Queens, New York, which was awarded from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in collaboration with the NYC School Construction Authority. She was also selected by the Nebraska Arts Council in collaboration with the University of Nebraska Medical Center, for a project in the Fred & Pamela Buffet Cancer Center.

Further, Suzy’s paintings have been featured in the Nature Conservancy’s Benefit Auction for three consecutive years, and she is the recipient of several national and international awards including the Scholarship for North American Scholars from New York University. Her works can be found in a selected number of private and corporate collections in Canada, Great Britain, South Korea and the United States.
